Important Days in May 2021 | Holidays in May | Happy Days 365

March definitely came in & is leaving like a lion with that cold, windy chill in the air!

Let's hope April will not only bring showers but let's hope for some much warmer sunshiny spring days!

The March winds blew lots of activity into preschool!  We kicked it off by celebrating Dr. Seuss' Birthday!  We made Cat in the Hat, truffula trees with the Lorax, counted 10 apples on top and Dr. Seuss sticker collages.  We also rhymed & rhymed as we read many Dr. Seuss stories before moving onto Mother Goose's Nursery Rhymes.  The children are still picking up on & noticing when a storybook has rhyming in it; they love to make rhymes.  Then we celebrated St. Patrick's Day with shamrocks, leprechauns, gold coins & rainbows!  We painted a beautiful poster for the parade float which was absolutely amazing if you didn't get a chance to go to the parade.  Spring surprised us with some snowflakes!  We talked about the weather changing so often and quickly...  Observed changes outside; buds on trees, the ground thawing, grass & stems shooting up out of the ground, baby birdies and lots of mud!  We made spring blossom trees with paint & tissue paper.  We also painted a pond life mural and made torn paper turtles while learning about new beginnings, what lives on the pond, what hatches out of eggs and the life cycles of frogs, turtles, & birdies.

It was a very busy month!

The independence is growing in Preschool, my friends are helping each other open their snacks and showing them the pinch & pull!  However, we are still continuing to work hard on our fine motor skills.  We are busy coloring, tracing stencils, cutting on the lines and using the pincer grasp to properly hold a writing instrument to practice writing our names.  In math, we are continuing to count and identify numbers everyday as well as started tracing & writing numbers, patterning, graphing and sequencing.  Letter recognition, rhyming and basic letter sounds are happening everyday. The children are working very hard to put on their own coats, ask them about the (flip trick), a couple of children can already zip up their coats too!

Great job, we are building lots of independent skills in preschool!!

April is here at last and hopefully to bring lots of sunshine and warm spring like temperatures!  We hope!

It's a very short month for us, only 14 school days!  Crazy!  We will still be very busy!  Our themes include baby animals, hatching chicks & ducks, and lots of bunnies in preparation for Easter!  After vacation, we will talk about Earth Day & Recycling while we then move into planting and growing!

  • Please remember to check the folder in your child’s backpack every night.  We use this to communicate and transport notices from school to home and home to school.  With drop off at the door; it’s very important to share any information with us through notes in the folder or email me directly.  I try to check it throughout the day.

  • PLEASE REPLACE AS NEEDED - All children need a complete set (underwear, shorts, shirt, socks) of clothing to be kept here at school in case of spills or accidents. Please replenish items should they be sent home.

  • Please remember to label everything that comes to school (lunchboxes, water bottles, nap items, and especially clothing) since the children all wear the same thing everyday.
